Monday Nolan and I had our special day at the Children's museum while my Mom watched Eliza. I loved having this one on one time with Nolan. He's at such a fun, curioius age. We had a great time.
Eliza has master pulling up and is starting to track around her crib and around furniture. She's also started to take a few steps while push her baby doll stroller.
Eliza is starting to hold her own more with her brother. He still doesn't quite grasp the be gentle concept. They definitely make each other laugh but they do make each other cry to.
Working on playing independently
It rained most of the week. Nolan and I snuggled and watched a movie during Eliza's morning nap.
They are starting to play in the kitchen together which is cute. Sharing can be tough but we continue to work on it. Here are some Eliza pictures from the week. She's playing more happily which has been great.

As many of you who see us regularly, we are been very tired and overwhelmed at times lately. April and May is typically our busiest time of year. In a three week period, we have our son's birthday 4/22, our anniversary 4/27, my brother's birthday 5/8, my brother in law's birthday 5/11, my birthday 5/14, Mother's Day that week as well, and my Mom's birthday 5/20. During those weeks, we were also discussing some pretty big career changes for Jeremy. I'll recap everything now.
I haven't blogged about any of this yet because I wanted to wait until the news was official and now it is! I'm excited to share that Jeremy has accepted a position at his current company as a Cloud Engineer. Jeremy has been happy with his job role as a Senior Systems Adminstrator since November 2015. He really hadn't been seeking out any new opportunities because things were going well for him, and our home life has been quite full lately. Since he started working at Aderant a year and a half ago, we found out we were expecting baby #2, sold our townhouse, lived with my mom for 4 months, built and closed on our new home, moved in, added Eliza to our family, and have been getting settled ever since. We've been going through many changes, while all positive ones, it has still been a lot for both of us to juggle this year on minimal sleep.
On April 20th, Jeremy's bosses boss came to him asking if he was interested in a new role that the company had been considering. He was very honored that he was asked. That was also the day Nolan climbed out of his crib, we transitioned to his toddler bed, and we were preparing for his 2nd birthday in two days. That weekend, we discussed that while our home life is a bit chaotic lately, and we weren't really looking for another change at this time, this potential opportunity would be a wonderful career move for Jeremy and something he was really excited about. We didn't want to get our hopes up in case it didn't work out but were also thrilled about the possibility.
Over the course of the next few weeks, we waited to find out what would happen. Since this position was a new role the company was implementing, it took a little time to work everything out with HR while also finding a replacement for Jeremy's current position. Fortunately, they were able to find a good fit (who is actually an old co worker of Jeremy's). On May 12, 2017, Jeremy received his official offer letter! We certainly had a lot to celebrate that weekend. (A promotion, my birthday, and Mother's Day.)
I often write about our children's lives but I wanted to take a moment to share how proud I am of my husband and how far he's come in his IT career. I look back to when we met in 2010 almost 7 years ago, and he was a recent graduate from Georgia Tech struggling to find a job. He was valet parking when we first started dating while interviewing and figuring out what type of career he wanted. I've really enjoyed watching him find his passion in IT and how his career has developed over the years.
I also admire his ability to accept new challenges while still remaining positive and stress free. I often wish I could handle stressful situations as gracefully as he does. He is constantly learning, growing, and trying to be a better employee for his company. This month at the quarterly meeting he received one of the Top 5 performer awards. I'm incredibly proud of him and the hardwork that he puts in all day at work and at night for his family. I couldn't be more excited as he enters this next chapter in his career! Thank you for supporting our two babies and me as well! We love you!

It's amazing the difference a month can make in the development of a 2 year old. Last month right around his birthday, we went through some terrible two type behaviors and a crib to toddler bed transition. Today Nolan is mainly back to his sweet self. Of course we have our tantrums and sometimes where he tests us but all in all I am loving his current age. The language development this month has been amazing. I'm loving how he can communicate his needs and wants. I think I've laughed more this month than in any previous months. While it's sad to think my little boy isn't a baby anymore, I am excited about what the future holds for him!
Today we had a fun day together at the children's museum in the city. The sheer joy on his face while he was there was priceless. Last time I had been to the museum was on a field trip with my students. We were almost a year into trying to get pregnant. I remember feeling sad and wondering when I would get to be a Mom and how much I wanted to be able to take my baby there one day. Three years later that hope became a reality. I feel extremely lucky to be Nolan's mom. I'm also thankful for my friends and their children that we get to spend our days with.
Milestones from this month
Two year molars are starting to come in. Identifies all his letters upper case and lower case, identifies numbers 1-10, attempts counting but often mixes up his numbers, knows basic colors (red, yellow, green, blue, pink, black, white, brown, orange) identifies basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, heart) enjoys singing phrases from simple songs
He loves being read to and he likes looking at books independently. He's into organizing and sorting things. This month he has really enjoyed trying to color as well as playing with play dough. He's able to follow directions better. Going up and down the stairs has gotten easier. He surprises me everyday with how much more self sufficient he is becoming. We have been working on self help type skills like remembering to wash his hands, brush his teeth, and learning how to get dressed. He enjoys playing outside in his ball pit (kiddie pool with ball pit balls), his water table is a favorite lately, as well as drawing with chalk on our driveway. He also enjoys walks. Can't wait to see what this month brings!
